First impression

Arriving from Hanoi via Phu Cat airport we got greeted by extremely friendly hotel staff in a half-open reception featuring a little pond - instant tranquility. As the hotel was not fully booked due to off season, we got an upgrade to a private pool villa - another great treat!

After a short transport via golf cart to our villa / suite, we were actually positively surprised by the level of quality and design of our room.
In general we felt very private, as the villas are perfectly secluded from outside views. This feeling continued throughout the entire stay, as there is always enough space even in public places to have a private experience.

The whole resort appears well maintaned and groomed. Everything seems tidy and perfectly functioning.
This impression of high quality and great service continued through breakfast and dinner (half board included), which was delicious and rich in variety.

The room

This truly was a love at first sight. Actually we were really surprised with the design and the build quality of the little villas. Everything was very well conceptualized (e.g. turning TV for both bed and living room, build in mirrors at sliding doors, bathtub with outside jungle, etc.). Also the building quality and cleaniless was at very high levels.

After going into the little living room with built in sofa, chairs, welcome snacks and (complementary + daily refilled) mini bar, we enjoyed the view onto our little private.
The living room joins an open floor layout towards the bedroom and the bathroom, which can be separated with sliding doors.

Both living room and bedroom feature floor to ceiling sliding windows onto the pool, with a little terrace, including outdoor couch and seating. The bathroom features separated toilet and shower. In addition, a large bathtub has large surrounding windows into a little jungle themed court that shields off views, but provides a ton of daylight.

The experience

MAIA belongs to the Fusion Group and the name makes a lot of sense. The entire resort feels not like a hotel, but more like a fusion of private villas and all hotel amenities like pool, restaurant, bar, spa, etc. Everything feels brilliantly conceptualized to support this idea, including an app that allows to book services like within resort transport, in villa dining (no additional cost), and many more.

Breakfast is always included and features a varying buffet plus made to order options and coffee drinks. The half-board option allows to either opt for lunch or dinner, or to switch the second dining option for a spa treatment. Clever idea! Dining allows for a pre-set menu or an all-la-carte budget (excluding drinks).
Next to the “standard” restaurant, there is an additional all-la-carte restaurant and pool bar. All of them feature extremely friendly service, which sometimes is not fluent in English, but compensating with their helpful attitudes and very capable station managers.

The lowest room category are twin-sided villas, without pool but still a lot of privacy. The villas go up to 3 bedroom configuration with beachfront views. All of them celebrate the idea of privacy and tranquility. During our 6 day stay the occupancy varied between 30% - 80%. At no time we felt that any areas got crowded at all - quite the opposite actually.

The additional amenities include a nice spa, gym, tennis court and private beach.
